The 50 Yard Line - Springfield

Last week the Panthers took on a 3-1 Haverford team and handled them pretty convincingly defeating the fords 25-14. The stats however were pretty close with Haven having zero yards in the air but with a strong 330 yards rushing for an average 6.5 yards per play. The difference in the game was the Panther defense simply not allowing the Fords to get into the end zone.

This week the Springfield Cougars come to George L. King Field with a 2-3 record but don't let that deceive you. They have lost to Ridley (first game of their season), Upper Darby and Penncrest but their Penncrest loss was a very close 22-19 and was the third game of their season. They have beat Harriton and Marple Newtown. The Cougars should not be taken lightly.

The Panthers did manage to put up some points last week but also found trouble trying to score on four downs from the one yard line. Missing scoring opportunities like that can cost a team the game. Fortunately the defense held up and kept the game from being much closer.

Against Springfield look for the Panthers to dominate the line of scrimmage and use their speedy backs to punch through the line for big yards. As the playoffs approach Strath Haven must improve their offensive attack and put points on the board every time the opportunity presents itself.
