The 50 Yard Line - Week 3

September 14, 2011

The Panthers have played two games this year. They have rushed for almost 800 yards, passed for 250 yards, scored 77 points while allowing their opponents only 6 points. They are averaging over 9 yards per carry. Their kicker hasn't missed an extra point in 11 attempts.

After soundly defeating Radnor last week the Panthers travel up to Newtown Square to take on a solid 2-0 Marple Newtown Tigers.

The Tigers have also been very impressive in their first two games beating both Sun Valley and Penncrest by scoring a total of 83 points while not allowing one point on defense! They have also rushed for over 700 yards and passed for over 120 yards. The Tiger QB, #14 Jamie Redinger is running the offense effectively. His go-to guy is #30 Cimirrow Moat who has already put up 452 yards for seven touchdowns and averages 14 yards per rush. With 32 carries so far this year Moat will be the guy to stop.

The Panthers have depended on the two-headed attack of #22 James Griffin and #20 Andrew Crawford. Expected to return this week is #34 Keith DeCindis after he suffered an injury in the opening quarter of game one. The passing game for the Panthers hasn't seen much action but QB #4 Kevin Muhollen has a strong arm and receivers have been open.

The Haven defense has been impressive this year in shutting down both the run and the passing game. They will be facing a classic running back in the Tiger's Moat and will have to keep him in check.

The Panther offense is speed, speed and more speed. The Tigers can't allow Crawford, Griffin and company out of the backfield because they won't be able to catch them (or tackle them in the case of Crawford) if they get up to speed.

Both teams come into this week's game undefeated with two weeks of impressive wins. This game won't be a season breaker but the winning team will definitely go forward with bragging rights and great momentum for the rest of the season.
