The 50 Yardline - McDevitt Scrimmage

On a very warm and humid evening Bishop McDevitt came into George L. King Field for the final scrimmage of the season.

The first two offensive series were all Panthers as the varsity starters drive at will with large gains in running and passing plays. After driving into the end zone twice during the first series things settled down and the McDevitt defense solidified keeping the Panthers out of the end zone but still allowing for multiple first downs and many large gain plays.

The Panther defense played well keeping the Lancers from threatening to score. The Lancers did have some success on various running and passing plays but adjustments by the Panthers kept McDevitt in check for most of the scrimmage.

All-in-all it was a very strong follow-up to last week's scrimmage. The Panther's may have a few new twists on offense this year with their new QB and the size of the line is one of the largest we've seen in recent years.

The season opener is at home next week against the one team that handed Haven their first and only regular season defeat, Upper Moreland. UM went 8-4 last year getting into the playoffs but lost in the first round. They graduated a whopping 22 seniors and have new players at every starting position. The Panthers seemed to "run out of gas" last year against UM. You can expect Haven to be pumped up and looking for some revenge from last year.

The game is Friday night at George L. King Field. Kick-off is at 7:30 PM. If you can't make the game you can listen to it right here on havenfootball.net.
