The 50 Yard Line - Week 2

There was little doubt that the Panthers were looking for two main things to accomplish this past Friday night. They wanted to give Coach Clancy his 200th varsity football victory at Strath Haven and they wanted to pay back the Golden Bears for handing them their only regular season defeat in 2010.

In a classic example of textbook football the Panthers overwhelmed the Upper Moreland Golden Bears in their 42-6 victory. New sophomore QB Kevin Mohollen was 3 for 3 passing for 101 yards with a QB rating of 492.8 and did a great job leading the team. James Griffin had a team high 159 yards rushing and Andrew Crawford averaged 9.8 yards per carry for his nine rushes. Defense seemed to spend more time in the Bears backfield knocking down 10 pass attempts and completely stuffing any run game that UM attempted. It was a dominating performance.

This week the Radnor Red Raiders will travel to Wallingford for game two of the season. Radnor is coming off a loss to a good Archbishop Carroll team, 30-20.

Radnor is a well balanced team throwing for as many yards as running. Their go-to guy in the backfield is #22 Tajae Bryant. Radnor in the past has enjoyed running a QB option which tends to give the defense fits. The Red Raiders are looking for a good year and we're sure are not happy about their first game loss.

The Panthers only had to throw three times as their running game was so strong. Look for the Panthers to establish the run against Radnor and then to pick their spots to put the ball in the air. The Haven defense needs to continue their dominating and aggressive play. Eat up the clock on offense and keep the ball away from the opposing offense is always a successful formula.
