For those unfamiliar with high school
football the Junior Varsity squad consists of sophomore and junior players who
are not regular starters on the Varsity squad. By establishing a Junior
Varsity game schedule it allows these players to play against opponents of
their own size and skill levels.
Watching a Junior Varsity game is a
lot of fun. They usually play on the regular varsity field with a full
compliment of referees. There is no band but the Jr. Varsity cheerleaders
attend each home game.
These young
men go out to play hard and work to improve their abilities. If you have the
time (games are played on Monday afternoon) we strongly recommend attending
(attendance is free). You'll probably catch a rising Panther star on the
field!
The staff here at the web site can't
attend the games but we will update the scores. If you attend a game and
would like to provide a game synopsis (and maybe even some digital pics) we
would be happy to publish them.

Varsity beats Springfield in final game

The JV squad finished their
season with a 35-18 victory of Springfield on Monday afternoon. The victory
brings their record to 7-1 for the season. The offense was led by James
Griffin who threw and ran for 2 touchdowns along with Keith Decindis
who ran and caught three touchdowns. Defensively the Panthers were led by
DeCindis and Ira Fergeson along with Manny Collins who had an interception.
Tarron Howey also had a kick return for a touchdown to aid the Haven
victory.

The JV Panthers improved their
record to 6-1 with a hard fought 14-12 victory over Penncrest yesterday.
Haven was paced on offense by Keith DeCindis with two touchdowns. The first
was on a pass reception from 20 yards out and the second was on a run of 2
yards. James Griffin also paced the offense with excellent passing and game
management from the quarterback position. Defensively Decindis and
Marquis Richman made the majority of the tackles in the winning effort. One
more game remains on Monday Nov. 9th at home vs. Springfield.

The JV improved its
record to 5-1 with an exciting 21-20 victory over Haverford Monday
afternoon. The game went back and forth with touch downs by Marquis Richman
and Ira Fergeson to make the score 13-13. Then Haverford took the lead and
Haven drove down the field and Keith DeCindis scored to make it 20-19.
They elected to go for two and James Griffin took it in for the winning
margin. The defense held with big plays by Brian Vendetta and Ira Fergeson.

The
JV team improved its record to 4-1 with an 18-6 victory over Conestoga
Monday evening. The Panthers scored on a 35 yard touchdown reception from
James Griffin to Keith DeCindis. The Panthers scored again on a 5 yard run
by Marquis Richman. Finally a 5 yard run from James Griffin for the final
score. Ira Fergason and Rodre Tomlinson sparked a strong defensive effort.

JV football was defeated yesterday 18-7 by Marple Newtown. Haven's lone score
was provided by James Griffin. The defense was led by Keith DeCindis and Josh
Johnson. The loss drops their record to 3-1, their next game is a night game
at Conestoga next Monday night at 6:00pm.

improved their record to 3-0 with a 35-6 defeat of Lower Merion. The offense
was led by touchdowns from a myriad of players including James Griffin,
Brian Vendetta,Cole Kennedy, Dan Blotsky and Manny Collins. Lile Yang made
all 5 extra points to round out the scoring. Defensively Rodre Tomlinson,
Josh Johnson and Dane Caffery led the way.

Robinson and ran for three. His runs were from 5,1, and 60 yards.
Defensively TJ Much, Ira Fergeson and Drew Platt led the Panthers.

Griffin led the offense with two TD passes, one to Matt Robinson of 50 yards.
and one to Ira Fergeson for 35 yards. James also ran one in from the 40. Other
touchdowns were scored by Keith Decindis, Brian Vendetta and Manny Collins.
The defense was led by 3 sacks from Josh Johnson and strong line-backing play
from Jared Manny and Dan Blotski.
