Playoff Points System

You earn points for wins and ties but no points for a loss:

A AA AAA AAAA

A 100 120 140 160

AA 80 100 120 140

AAA 60 80 100 120

AAAA 40 60 80 100

You read the chart across and not down. For example if an AA school beats an AAA school, it earns 120 points. If an A school defeats an AA school, it earns 120 points.

Pretty simple? Sure, except that the PIAA adds in power points based on the won/loss/tie record of a defeated regular season opponent. Points are awarded for each team you have defeated based on their record. Each team receives 10 points for each of their wins, 5 points for each tie and no points for each loss. Example: Team A (AAA) has a regular season record of 4-2. Team B (AAA) beats Team A. Team B receives 100 points for the win and a bonus of 40 points based on Team A's record.

To make it more interesting the bonus points can grow during the season. Using our example above Team A plays next week and beats their opponent. That means that Team B (regardless of the outcome of their next game) receives an extra 10 bonus points.

Final standings will be determined by dividing the number of points earned by the total number of games played by the 10th week.

There will be eight teams in District One-AAA with the highest point total that will qualify for the Playoffs.
