The Panthers and Lions freshman teams played an exciting game at Rutgers avenue Thursday afternoon. Although the Panthers ran the ball well all day, it was through the air that they scored their two offensive touchdowns. The Lions countered with two of their own, by way of air, and we had a game.

In the 3rd quarter Penncrest seemed to take a commanding lead when a defender picked off the Haven quarterback and streaked untouched into the end zone making it 18-6 Lions after a missed extra point. The Panthers were not done though, marching down the field on their next series and scoring on a quick out-pass on 4th down from the Lion 3 yard line to get them a little closer at 18-13 early in the 4th. Then came the magic! Holding the Lions deep in their end of the field late in the 4th, the Lions got off a poor punt, hurried by a great line push. The shanked punt bounced once and was scooped up and run 30 yards down the sideline for the eventual game winning TD. Great way to start the season off for the up and coming future of the program.
